Frequently Asked Questions
Don't see your question here? Ask us at Sales@GreenMail.com
Do consumers have to read my offer to get paid?
No. They will be paid an initial amount if they open the folder within their GreenMail Member account containing your "mini" offer.
However, they are paid a larger incentive upon opening the mini and receiving your full offer. This is analogous to paying someone to open your envelope and read your letter.

How do I pay for GreenMail?
Like USPS postage, payment must be made in advance of a mailing. However, unlike postage, this payment to GreenMail is a deposit. When a consumer member receives or opens your GreenMail piece, a charge will be made against your deposit.

Do I receive a refund if there is a balance remaining from members who do not receive or open my offer?
Yes. You can specify an expiration date on your GreenMail piece. Any monies not paid to members' accounts at the time of expiration will be credited to your account or refunded to you. There is no charge for any pieces that are not received by the member. Upon expiration, the offer will be removed from any members' folders who have not previously received your offer. Your offer will remain in folders of members who opened your offer unless they manually delete it.
Also, you may withdraw the offer at any time and for any reason for those GreenMail members who have not yet received your offer. For example, you've run out of stock of an item that you are selling in your offer. You don't want to continue an offer that you can't fulfill, so you can withdraw the offer and receive a refund or credit for any members who have not yet received your offer. This is another advantage of GreenMail over postal mail, which cannot be called back or changed once it has entered the postal mailstream.
You may resend the offer (or any other) at any time to those persons who didn't receive or open your offer the first time. This campaign can be tracked as a separate follow-up mailing.

How are results of my offer tracked?
An online report is generated containing the aggregate number of people to whom the offer was made available, and the number who received as well as opened the offer.

Why should I provide GreenMail with my mailing list prior to mailing my offer with the US Postal Service?
When you provide your mailing list to GreenMail in advance of printing and mailing your offer with the USPS, we will compare the names and addresses on your mailing list with our consumer member file. The GreenMail members will receive the electronic version of your offer within their password-protected online mailbox at GreenMail. The rest will receive the paper offer in their postal mailbox.
You can save a tremendous amount in paper, printing, and postage costs, plus provide an economic incentive to your recipients to receive your offer. All GreenMail consumer members have asked to receive an electronic version of direct mail offers rather than the paper copy in their mailbox.
Direct mail can be a "race to the mailbox" where two or more competitive offers strive to be the first one to be received. Greenmail offers immediate delivery and is available to consumer members in advance of a physical postal delivery.
Last but not least, GreenMail is a more environmentally friendly way to deliver your offer.

Can you send my offer to GreenMail's consumer members without a mailing list from me?
Yes. GreenMail can select members to receive your offer based upon your criteria. If you have multiple sets of criteria or multiple offers, we can code these campaigns so that you may easily measure their results. Greenmail offers all of the capabilities to measure responsiveness that postal direct mail offers, plus many more.

Will you provide me with the names and addresses of the GreenMail members that you select for my offer?
No. This would be a breach of our Privacy Policy with our members.
However, what's most important is to develop relationships with those persons interested in your offer. Make a request within your offer that our members provide their information directly to you and develop your client relationships with those persons who either purchase or express interest in your offer.
We understand that this can be a difficult psychological hurdle for some mailers. However, GreenMail offers the ability to accurately measure the cost/benefit relationship and answer the question "How much did it cost us to receive our responses?". You will know in the aggregate how many pieces were received, opened, the number of responses and inquiries, and the cost to you.
In those instances where you do not provide GreenMail with your mailing lists and instead request that we select GreenMail members to receive your offer, consider the analogy to television advertising. Television advertisers do not receive a list of all of the names and addresses of the viewers who see their commercials. Instead, these advertisers measure their cost versus their benefit.

What is the lead time necessary for a mailing?
On recurring campaigns in which the process can be automated, the lead time is just a few hours from when we receive your mailing list and when your offer is available to GreenMail members.
If you request that we select GreenMail members to receive your offer, the lead time required depends upon the complexity of your selection criteria.
