How and when am I paid money?
For security and validation purposes, your first payment will be made by check sent to the postal mail address you provide at the time you join as a GreenMail member. Subsequent payments can be made by direct deposit into your checking or savings account, by check, or via PayPal. You select the method of payment after your mailing and email address have been verified.

Your first payment can be requested when you have an account balance of $15. Subsequent payments can be requested when your account balance is at least $15.

What's in it for me?
Money! GreenMail will pay you money simply to change the way you receive your mail. Instead of receiving direct mail offers and catalogs in your postal mailbox, choose to receive them via the Internet at GreenMail.com. You decide which of these types of mail that you will receive via GreenMail.

You are paid for every piece of mail that you receive from GreenMail. This is the same as the mail piece sitting in your mailbox except that it's in your personal GreenMail account online.

Open the GreenMail piece and you are paid additional money. This is the same as if you opened the envelope of a postal direct mail piece.

In addition to the money incentives that GreenMail provides, you also will help protect our Earth. So, GreenMail means green for you and green for the environment.

Is GreenMail sent to my e-mail address?
No. GreenMail is different than email. GreenMail does not come to your email account. GreenMail delivers direct mail offers and catalogs to your secure, personalized account at the GreenMail website. You access your account by logging in using the unique user name and password you created at the time you joined as a GreenMail member.

How much does it cost to join GreenMail?
There is no cost to join GreenMail or to receive mail in your GreenMail account. In fact, we do not plan to ever charge our members any fee for the Internet mail delivery service we provide. Instead, our business model calls for all of our compensation to come from the mailers who deliver their direct mail offers and catalogs via GreenMail. Those mailers can afford to pay GreenMail (and also pay GreenMail members to receive and open their mail piece) because they save the cost of postage, paper and printing by mailing electronically with GreenMail rather than the U.S. Postal Service.

How secure is the mail I receive at GreenMail.com?
GreenMail protects all mail with Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption technology, the same technology that banks use to protect the information in your online accounts. This means that your GreenMail is much more secure than either postal mail or e-mail which are not encrypted at all.

Can my spouse and I have separate GreenMail accounts?
Yes. We recommend separate accounts, especially if you have different individual interests. Once you become a member, and if you would like, you can take a few minutes and complete the personal information section and indicate your individual interests (this section is optional and isn't required). Your GreenMail account can be individually customized to offer you information on your interests.

For example, let's say that you indicate an interest in golf. If we have an mailer that is a golf club manufacturer and has developed a new driver, you would be a likely candidate to receive this offer via GreenMail since they want to reach golfers.

We will not provide your personal information (such as your name and address, etc) to the manufacturer, but instead, will give the aggregate number of our members who indicate an interest in golf, as well as any other demographic factors that they are interested in reaching.

Am I really helping the environment?
Yes! The postal mail pieces that were delivered to you today might have been delivered to you via GreenMail instead.

Here's how one portion of GreenMail can work. In advance of mailing, a mailer will send us their mailing list of all the individuals to whom they intend to send a direct mail offer through the US Postal Service. We compare this list with our list of members who have indicated a desire to receive this type of mail (direct mail offers) via GreenMail instead of the physical mail piece delivered to their mailbox. GreenMail members receive the electronic delivery and the others receive the physical mail piece in their postal mailbox.

Every offer sent to you electronically rather than through physical delivery helps the environment. In 2000 the USPS delivered over 207 billion pieces of mail. See our benefits to members section regarding environmental savings for more information.

What are the minimum computer system requirements?
You don't need a particularly fast computer to browse the Internet and receive GreenMail, but a faster processor will slightly speed up your delivery of web pages. Your Internet access is the single greatest factor to increase your Internet pleasure and speed up the delivery of web pages to you.

How can I receive more GreenMail offers?
There are two ways that GreenMail is generated. One way is where a mailer provides us with a mailing list that they intend to mail with USPS and we match this list against our member list. Our members receive the electronic GreenMail piece and are paid while the others receive the paper mail piece in their postal mailbox.

Another way GreenMail can be sent involves matching offers with our individual member's interests.

To provide us with information about yourself, log in as a member and go to the profile section. This is an optional survey that you can complete that entrusts GreenMail with information about you including your interests.

Any information that you provide GreenMail is kept strictly confidential and is not sold or rented to any third parties. See our privacy policy and the question and answer above Is any personal information that I entrust to GreenMail sold or rented to any third parties?

Does GreenMail pay a referral fee if I refer someone to you?
We're sorry, but we don't pay a referral fee for two reasons. First, we want to pay our members the maximum amount of compensation to receive GreenMail, and referral fees reduce what we are able to pay each member. Second, referral fees can entice some persons to send out unsolicited bulk e-mail ("spam") to mass numbers of people where they promote a site soley because they might be paid a referral fee. GreenMail is adamantly opposed to unsolicited e-mail and wants to avoid any chance this will occur.

However, referrals (without fees) to family and friends are absolutely the best and most cost effective way for GreenMail to build our membership. We appreciate very much any referral that you would make. Promoting GreenMail to other people also benefits all existing members as well. As GreenMail's number of members grows, so does the interest from more and more mailers. If you know someone who might be interested in GreenMail, please encourage them to sign up for their own GreenMail account.
