Security
GreenMail uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to encrypt all mail sent via GreenMail. SSL uses a 128-bit encryption key which would take several lifetimes using a supercomputer to break. This means that no one can intercept and view your mail. This is the same state of the art encryption technology that banks use to protect customer data on-line.
When you are on a page that uses SSL technology, the URL will start with https:// rather than http:// (the "s" stands for security).

In addition, you will see an icon (such as a gold lock or a key) in your
browser.

GreenMail acquired its SSL technology from VeriSign, the leader in on-line security. To verify GreenMail's SSL technology, click on the VeriSign icon at the bottom of this page.
The bottom line is that GreenMail is far more secure than either postal mail or e-mail.
